Purple Baby Shower Cookies
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Purple food coloring gel
- Edible silver glitter optional
- Purple sugar crystals
Instructions:
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt
In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, and mix well
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms
Add purple food coloring gel to achieve the desired shade of purple
Mix well
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour
Preheat the oven to 350F 175C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness
Use baby-themed cookie cutters onesies, baby bottles, etc
to cut out the cookies
Place the cut-out cookies on the prepared baking sheet
If using, lightly dust some cookies with edible silver glitter for a touch of sparkle
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely
Once the cookies are cooled, mix purple sugar crystals with a bit of edible glitter for added texture and shine
Frost the cookies with a thin layer of royal icing and immediately sprinkle the purple sugar mixture on top
Allow the icing to set before serving or packaging the cookies
