Braided Chicken Buns

These Braided Chicken Buns are a tasty change from regular chicken sandwiches. Spices and barbecue sauce are used to season tender chicken breast, which is then wrapped in braided bread dough to make a tasty and filling meal.

Ingredients:

  • 500g chicken breast, diced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 batch of prepared bread dough store-bought or homemade

Instructions:

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat

Add onion and garlic, saut until softened

Add diced chicken, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper

Cook until chicken is browned and cooked through

Stir in barbecue sauce and chopped cilantro

Remove from heat and let cool

Divide the prepared bread dough into five equal portions

Roll each portion into a long strand, about 12 inches in length

Take three strands and braid them together, then repeat with the remaining two strands

Place a spoonful of the cooled chicken mixture along the length of each braided dough

Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal, forming a bun

Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover with a towel, and let rise for 30 minutes

Preheat the oven to 375F 190C

Bake the buns for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through

Serve warm and enjoy!
